Goose vs. Dog and Man

[YouTube - Link]

Here's something you don't see too often...a Canada goose trying to pick on a sweet natured dog in a boat. I have no idea why this goose seems to have a thing for the dog though it maybe protecting a nest of eggs or perhaps it's thinking the dog is a potential interloper in its territory? Either way the owner of the dog is clearly trying to avoid hurting the goose while protecting his dog each time he grabs it and then chucks it away. It gets even more surreal as the goose starts chasing the fishing boat later on!

Canada geese are not to be messed with. I've been attacked by one on a golf course and at a birds-of-prey center (go figure...). They're just pure evil.

Geese aren't exactly friendly. My Husband's family got some for their farm and they learned very quickly that those birds are MEAN.
DH's father was minding his own business when one of them bit the ever living crap out of his arm. He had this HUGE bruise on his arm where it bit him.
They eventually sold them all :P

I had a run-in with a psycho Canada goose last year... I rode my bike to work & back along the river. One day I'm passing by one of the geese's usual hangouts, and one of them decided it didn't like me riding through there. I'm zipping along at about 20mph, and the goose flew right at me; I was able to get a foot up high enough to catch the goose in the breast and keep it out of my face. Thankfully it was the goose that went rolling down the embankment, and not me.

Stupid geese.

That dog was too laid back. I hope he would be a little more threatening if his master was the one being attacked by the goose. (or anything else) The man in the boat was pretty cool too, I mean he had the thing by the neck several times.

Has no one here thought that the genius holding the camera should have put the camera down and protected his dog? Maybe he could have used the motor and driven away from the goose instead of trying to get the next viral video on the net. Shame on the man not protecting his dog for the sake of video.

Yeah Crispin, Shame on the owner! That goose almost had that dog opened up!!! C'mon, if the dog really felt threatened it would have torn that thing apart. It knew its owner would handle it.
Actually, I think the man did a great job of multi-tasking!

That's a great momma goose!

The dog knew there was nothing truly threatening about the goose and knew better than to hurt it. Kind of like when my kids pester our dog the way they do, she just sits and lets it pass. She knows they are not a threat.

I had a similar experience (minus the dog) while canoeing in upstate NY years ago. Damn goose bit my arm a couple times, then I introduced it to the canoe paddle - It decided to go elsewhere.

Canadian geese don't play nice. I was at the zoo and one little boy got too close. The goose clamped his beak down on the kid's finger really hard, then pecked the boy's stomach until he fell over backwards. Luckily for the boy, his mother scooped him up before any more damage could be dealt.

Canadian geese suck. They flock to the back of our area every spring and make their messes and stomp on our roof. There's a pond back there, so they never go away and wake us up very early each morning with their stupid squawking.

Don't laugh at that sweet dog. It shows he has a good temperament to be able to hold back. He's probably great with kids.

Take it from a Canuck: s'alright to kill those things, even if your state/province would prefer you didn't. Useless, shitcrapping, overbreeding, nuisance species. www.canadianshatecanadiangeese.com

Yeah after the first time I would have put the camera down to protect the dog. Seriously it kind of makes you look like a jerk if you are more concerned about getting it on film.
