Can Science Make a Love Spray?

Guys, are you unlucky in love? Thanks to science, there may just be hope for you yet: a love spray!

Neurobiologist Larry Young of Emory University, Georgia, explains:

Animal testing is beginning to shed light on the complex neural and genetic components of love in the same way they have led to pharmaceutical therapies for anxiety, phobias and post-traumatic stress disorders.

The behavioural scientist Professor Larry Young, of Emory University, Georgia, writing in the journal Nature, said: "For one thing, drugs that manipulate brain systems at whim to enhance or diminish our love for another may not be far away."

Experiments have already shown a nasal squirt of the hormone oxytocin enhances trust and tunes people into others' emotions.

guys, lets all make a pact not to use this $hit. I can't compete with science....

I suppose on the plus side this could give scientists more of an opportunity to spread their smart DNA.

hrmmm, I'm going to go invest in baby-size labcoats.

this might be useful to save marriages or, in case there will be a dislike-potion, it might prevent people from falling for some assholes which are no good for them.... lol

its funny that scientists are trying to trick people to love them. "You don't like us because we spend too much time in the lab..... OK we will make a solution that will trick you HAHAHA" what happened to being genuine? people love that! stop trying to replace virtues.

what do I do you ask? I follow Christ, when I realize how bad I am and someone else is taking my punishment, I love everyone because I am loved. You are loved too!
We don't need stupid potions and pills to control our emotions, we need to take responsibility for our actions and face reality. Do you notice how Christians are a happy bunch.
Peace out!

It may be a _lust_ potion, but it will never be a _love_ potion.

Animal lust is one thing, and yeah, we use animal boides so it wouldn't be hard to make a lust potion.

Liking a person enough to live with them for life has nothing to do with chemicals - it's the other person's likes, dislikes & intentions that are attractive or not.

Definitely a lust potion. I just don't see a practical use for it unless you are a d-bag at the clubs trying to pick up women. But hey, if it makes someone happy, have at it.

@ Mikee "what do I do you ask?" No, not one did. And they pretty much could guess that from the statement 'stop trying to replace virtues.'

Science isn't about replacing anything, anyhow. It's about discovering what makes everything happen how it does. Sure, companies use those results to make new things (to make money), but i guess you have to take the good with the bad. Greed and desire for power has always been a motivator for invention (as has necessity :P), but good things do come out of that sometimes.

After all, a little over 200 years ago, we didn't even have electricity. And now we're able to post on the internet, carry tiny devices that give us global directions, and share video/audio recorings in real time with people all over the world.

Considering how long humanity went without just electric light, the advances of the past 200+ astound me when I think on it.

I often use an oxytocin spray. I think that it does not give me any advantage when trying to find a woman but it does give me a nice feeling all the day. The guy above who says we shouldn't use these should try them for himself before he decides to ban them.
