National Geographic always has cool photo galleries, but I especially like this one. This guy is a cowfish, and although he's transparent, he's glowing purple because of the photographer's strobe. He's kind of cute.
The cowfish displays a favose or honeycomb pattern in his flesh. I never thought I would use that word when I learned it, but I actually see favoid patterns all the time now and I'm glad I know a word to describe them.
Aw, but I feel kind of cheated out from not seeing any pictures of the translucent creepy animals of the deep. They always give me interesting nightmares.
