Update 10/24/08 by Alex - The original The Cuppycake Song (written by Judianna Castle) was sung by her daughter Amy Castle back in 1994. This version was (presumably) lip-synched by Job McCully. Job's not fat - the chubbiness you see is the result of medications. Here is Job's story | Job's website at CaringBridge | Extreme Makeover Home Edition episode for the McCully
It could me a medical/glandular problem
I mean, he doesn't look like he's a slim kid to begin with, but I'm thinking he's got whatever he's got and his parents got him to sing the song because it's funny..
But yeah Alison is probably right, I think his cheeks are merely swollen from some sort of allergy or medical procedure. Watch the camera move down a bit. The kid's big, but he isn't that big.
I think it was cute.
The rest of you need to get over your "Holier than Thou" shit eating attitudes.
Yes, he is lip-syncing. The "Cuppy Cake" song has been around for years, long enough that the little girl who sang it has grown into an amazingly pretty young woman with her own Youtube acco8unt.

the snookums-snookums thing is entirely awesome.
i wonder how old he is, 'cause he really does have good performance instinct.
He and his family will appear on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition this Sunday, October 26th. They are the McCully family.
This kid is darling and I truly feel for his plight. Look at what all of you said about him. I don't even WATCH Extreme Makeover and I found this information.
Thank you for providing the information!
Thanks Mattie for clarifying. I'll be sure to do a little more research next time as a preemptive strike for all the negative people out there.
This is funny!
I loved his eyebrow dance.
Who is sicker, his parents who put him on the internet,or the boy himself, who suffers from some terrible diseases?
The bright side is he probably won't live long enough to develop a mental trauma aubout this clip.
But he'll be dead by the time he's 30 if he maintains that sort of weight.
Which is significantly less cute.
I'll say it again, this was very cute.
and biltmore, go suck an egg you twat.
By the way, Mattie is wrong about his family being on EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME ADDITION this week. Check it out at ABC.com. It's about a ten year old girl with leukemia.
On the one hand, if the kid is "just" fat, his parents are horrifying monsters, eh? But, if the kid is sick, then comments about him, or laughing at him atempting to be funny are wrong, eh?
I might be messed up, but I'm glad I'm not y'all.
(Going to make fun of my dialect, now? I thought you might)
Personally, I didn't think the song was cute at all. I didn't do research on this child. All I saw was a morbidly obese child lipsynching to a song comparing someone he cares about to sugary junk food. Honestly I don't care if medications are making him reach this unhealthy weight. Obesity causes death in children. PERIOD.
I apoligize moderator Alex for my lengthy post. I just wanted to weigh in on the people that are shocked at this child's size.
At only 10 years old, Job McCully is an inspiration to his small town, surviving leukemia, a bone marrow and double lung transplant. After years spent in and out of the hospital Job was finally able to go home in March. However, because of his health, the family wasn't able to return to their sinking, moldy and dilapidated home. Ty and the team help bring the house up to code so Job and his family will be able to return home.
Definitely not regular weight gain though. Blindingly obvious on that note.
Maybe that could be added to the posting to educate the violent in here?
There's a news story about Job McCully. Poohaps you can do a follow-up to this to give some info about Job? His story is actually quite uplifting, but sad.
Look, the kid is singing "you're my cupcake, honeybun..."
Maybe if he was singing a non-food-related song, it wouldn't lend to the impression that this kid got fat from overeating.
As I said, it was cute, but the kid is grossly obese, and putting this on YouTube invites criticism. It's like they're flaunting his obesity. That's odd.
Hey, even his mother has commented here and confirmed it isn't him.
Hi Tina! Let me tell you that you are one great example of a good and loving mother. Best wishes for you and Job.
I truly hope that there will be a cure one day and until that day comes, I will pray for Sam to remain strong. His video has once again reminded me that we are lucky to be healthy...
Unlike the commentators on this page, I looked it up without leaving a hateful and negative comment, not knowing the entire story.
Sam Allred, which is his name had any of you bothered to find out, suffers from his immune system ATTACKING his kidneys. He goes thru excessive steroids so he can actually survive!
The moral of his story is to keep living and make it the best you can.
The moral of what I wrote this for is to think before you speak. Or better yet, if you can't say something nice, DON'T say anything at all.
May my prayers for him reach the ears of god.
His name is actually Sam Allred. He lives in Alaska with his family. He has a medical condition, a disease of the kidneys, called IgM Nephropathy. This medical condition requires him to take a medication called Prednisone which causes severe swelling in the face and the rest of the body. He is not obese or fat... his appearance is strictly and completely down to the medication on which he is dependent. His goal is to send a message to the world that people should be less hasty to judge because we all have trials and challenges to face. His aim is to change lives through compassion. This is his website: http://www.cuppycakesam.com/index.html
I would encourage anyone who has anything mean spirited to say to do some self directed introspection. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. May he without sin cast the first stone. Judge lest you yourself be judged.
