Air Conditioned Bus Stop

Are you sure its a bus stop? Im not sure about laws but Ive seen booths like that in different countries that are smoking areas.

And it's probably an advertisement for Burj Al Arab, not necessary an indication that it's a bus stop close to Burj Al Arab

I live in Dubai where the bus stops have been launched and it's true - they are fitted with AC so people can escape the 45 degree heat.

However, this photo is clearly posed - UAE nationals (in the dish-dashes) would never take the bus.

h, I was going to suggest maybe they are waiting to be picked up by their limos, but what you say makes sense. Maybe it's an ad. The bus stop is air-conditioned so the limo drivers, cooks, and maids don't melt coming and going to work.

When you're rich, if you have to wait to be picked up by your limo, your chauffeur's gonna be looking for work.

We seriously need those in Florida.

Once we can get them to purshase some product that is rediculously marked up, on a mass scale, then perhaps we can have those too.

A night at the Burj is more expensive try around $2000

@max - I actually looked it up. Their published rate is 2,000 USD a night, but you get a "best rate discount" on the spot of $1,000. :)

Its actually around 7,500 to 15,000 (some suites have 2 floors)and it costs 60 euros to just go in and have a look!!!

Seems pretty extravagant just for a bus stop but when you can build your own ski resort in the middle of the desert then why not!

while h is almost right on the mark when he said UAE nationals don't get one the bus, very few are actually as rich as you guys make us sound.

in any case, those air conditioned bus stops use solar energy to generate some (if not all) of the power required by the ACs

Aggghhh. It irritates me to NO END when people imply that "only poor people ride the bus."

Actually, they are bus stops. I was in one and they come in handy during the dog hot days of fall in Dubai. The fact that the leader of a country has money is not an indication that commoners are wealthy. There are many low income individuals who catch the bus in the dead heat of the work day. I was pleased to see how clean the bus stops are, unlike the ones available to individuals in Washington DC. I applaud the UAE adn Dubai for taking care of it's people.
