Thanks to the good folks at American Eagle Outfitters, we have two tickets to the New American Music Union, a two-day summer music festival this August 8 & 9 in Pittsburgh, PA, for one lucky Neatorama reader.
Line-up for the music festival include Bob Dylan, The Raconteurs, The Roots, Gnarls Barkley, and more. The festival will also feature college bands (the best of which will win a recording session). More info here: http://www.ae.com/web/77e/music/festival.jsp - Thanks Steve!
If you'd like the ticket, all you got to do is ask (in the comment section). One winner will be chosen at random in the next day or two; the tickets will be sent to US address only.
You don't have to live in Pittsburgh, but obviously you have to go there for the show. Please don't ask for the tickets just because you can or because you want to resell them - they probably won't have good resale value, as tickets are on-sale right now for the affordable price of $25 for students, and $49.50 for general admission.
In return, please let me ask you for a feedback on Neatorama - what we're doing right (or wrong) and what we can do to improve the blog. I gotta tell you, after running the blog for almost three years (with great help from Miss Cellania and other authors), I'm tired and am in need of fresh ideas :) If you'd like to leave a feedback, but not be in the running for the tickets, that's fine too - just let me know.
Update 6/23/08 - Congrats to Marci who won the ticket (chosen at random).
Thanks.
(I'm not English-speaking so please forgive any mistake :P)
Compliments! ^^
Love the site, my major issue is this. I often access the site from a PDA (sprint mogul running Windows Mobile 6 pro)
The site is very hard to navigate on this phone. Some mobile browser optimization would pretty much be the only thing i could ask.
That being said, im sure very few people are accessing the site this way and it would be a pain in the butt to optimize for the phone. I'll still read everyday.
I think a more separated forum for discussion (with registered user names) would be neat for everybody to talk about the things posted.
And I'd love the tickets. Bob Dylan would be amazing.
please don't burn out! i love the site just as it is (with the exception of the overly long articles to have to scroll over). i have turned everyone in my life onto your site, and constantly find myslef talking about things i've read here.
But in regards to what you're doing right, I only discovered this blog a week ago and love it. I've already posted a handful of links to my Rue The Day Blog.
You have awesome content on topics I'm interested in. Keep it up.
Only thing I can suggest is... maybe a few more flash games? (I do have an idea for a collaboration if you're interested in going down that route)
Neatorama is awesome -- I visit every day! Don't change a thing, except maybe the What is it? posts (boooo-ring, or maybe I'm just bitter cuz I never know what the object is . . .)
I know I won't be in Pitt in August so I won't ask for them, but I vote you give them to either, Krystine, George, or the Sandman.
Your site is awesome, don't change a thing (cept maybe the masthead, maybe once a month or something like dooce).
Looking forward to more Neatorama shows!
Maybe because I have commented maybe a hundred times and I still don't have an account!! I like the trust in its readers and I like the layout you switched to this year.
Sometimes when I check Digg and Reddit I feel so full of politics and deaths and people lying or being bad. When I come back to my Neatorama I'm filled with sunshine dust and moon water, it is that wonderful. My girlfriend and I read Neatorama together so when i call her in Maryland, I live in Philly, we can chat about the latest post and go off on tangents about the subject like I remember the tree house post you put up awhile ago, that was(is) our dream to live in a tree house, that had us talking all night until she fell asleep on the phone. Neatorama is so cute like that.
Or when you posted about Hobbit houses awhile back or any post from Uncle Johns great bathroom reader.
My least favorite thing is the oddball videos someone will post, like those music videos, no offense Mr Stanhope!, but I think you are doing a wonderful job being my cavalier knights of smiles :D
- mrmark, mrelrayes, mark, etc.
edit: I will take her(gf) if you pick me :D
I always learn new stuff when I come here, I love the tokyoflash games, and the guess what it is games. They always lean towards something cool.
Quite Frankly, I enjoy the current composition immensely to come back every day. I know thats not what your looking for, but I felt I needed to put in my 2 cents.

P.S. I don't want the tickets. I just wanted a logical place to say 'well done' and ... well.... 'thanks' for providing this site.
i would love to take my wife to see bob dyllan!i'll wash ur dog! hell, i'll even wash ur cat! now wouldn't 15-20 minuites of watching a total stranger getting soaked and the bejeesus scratched out of him be totally worth 2 tickets? also while we're there i hereby pledge to personally clean all the toilets in the train station with my tongue! not only would that be 1 hell of a commercial for listerine, but truly shows my desire for wishing to go. we also have 2 cameras with 2 gig cards on them so will send u plenty of pics of us there if u wish.to end on a low note ...ppppplllleeeeaaaaasssseeeeeeeeeeeeee! with strawberry jam on it?
Love the site, not sure what you could do to improve... More posts? :)
It's neatly eclectic. I don't like equally all the posts but really can see the 'neatyness' in it. There's always something new and interesting.
So sorry Alex, no ideas, no help besides a couple of url suggestions, just cheering the good work, enjoying a good time. Thanks.
Icy
Thank you.
Neatorama is one of my favorite sites - one that I subscribe to through RSS and that I look forward to reading everyday. I honestly can't think of any improvements because you're so ecclectic that you prety much cover everything. Keep up the good work!
Please give me tickets, and feel the satisfaction of giving me my FIRST Concert experience!
Additionally, Neatorama is one of the blogs I frequent Daily. I wouldn't know how to improve your blog. I can tell you that I enormously enjoy the longer articles and lists. I also like the quizzes. I think it's great that you seem to have ?partnered up? with Uncle John's Bathroom Reader. Have you considered attempting to create relationships with other Interesting Nuggets of Knowledge companies, such as Weird USA and their corresponding State books?
Thank you for your consideration!
Make this Daddy happy!
But unfortunately I have to pick just one winner - and to make it fair, I actually have a method: I let random.org pick a winner at random (unless that person didn't want tickets, then I pick another number).
Congratulations to Marci who won the two tickets! And to everyone else, I thank you for playing (to Ruby: congrats on the recent wedding!)
Thank you for those who gave kind words of support - Neatorama is fun, but it's also a lot of work, and it gets harder and harder to blog/work/play with the kids ... there're only so many hours in a day!
I'll take a look at the specific recommendations - you guys have got some great ideas!
