Over-Water Bungalows in Bora Bora and Other Incrediby Cool Hotel Suites Around the World

ProTraveller blog has a neat post about 10 of the coolest hotel suites I'll never be able to afford. Oh well, here's what most of us just have to satisfy ourselves with while counting our meager savings: amazing photos of amazing hotels around the world.

This one above is the Over-Water Bungalows at Le Meridien, Bora Bora:

Located in the Pacific Ocean, Bora Bora is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. To take full advantage of this natural beauty, the over-water bungalows at Le Meridien are a great choice. Each private bungalow is built upon stilts just above the ocean, so you can literally take a few stairs down from your bungalow to the ocean for a swim in the warm, turquoise water.

This feels like the kind of building that later you would say, "Who could be dumb enough to stay there with a storm coming?"

I will stay on solid ground close to the beach, thank you very much.

I just can't imagine a natural body of water being *that* blue. I guess growing up next to NYC will do that to you. We have greenish blue sludge. Woo!

Andrewdoane these overwater bungalows are sheltered by the reef that surrounds Bora Bora so they're well protected from storms. I was fortunate enough to stay in one of these on an all expenses paid gig.

I prefer unspoilt coastlines without eyesore buildings and secluded beaches with no sign of other humans. They're usually free to camp at too.

my family and I stayed at a FLOATING LODGE deep into the Amazon in Brazil a few years ago.
It was so. freakin. BREATHTAKING.
Plus, it was actually floating! D:

I was lucky enough to stay at the meridien last year with my wife for our honeymoon - made possible with a little help from my parents who have a timeshare deal with starwood, le meridien's parent company ;) Truly incredible place. The bluest water i've ever seen. One of those places that you just have to visit at least once in your life...

Overwater End of Pontoon Bungalows
The bungalows are arranged in three separate villages and oriented to views and sunlight with privacy as a key consideration. Each village is near the beach, swimming areas and communal pavilion.
There are six Overwater End of Pontoon Bungalows located at the end of the connecting teak walkways offering unobstructed views of Mt. Otemanu and the alluring blue lagoon.
Each bungalow is furnished with a king bed and a private deck from where steps lead directly into the lagoon. The beautiful underwater sea life can be admired or fed through the illuminated glass-topped coffee table.
