$6 Million Home Theater

Jeremy Kipnis has the ultimate home theater.
His Stewart Snowmatte laboratory-grade screen is the biggest I've ever seen in a home, and in the back of the theater, there's a Sony ultra-high-resolution (4,096-by-2,160) SRX-S110 digital projector. I'm looking everywhere, jotting down questions, and Kipnis sounds almost giddy talking about his theater's capabilities. He refers to his baby, the Kipnis Studio Standard (KSS), as "The Greatest Show on Earth." And from the looks of it, he may be right.

The equipment specs are impressive, and the photographs even more so. Link -via Unique Daily and Oh Gizmo!

It's hard to find an appropriate comment before such an obscene display of overkill spending. I'll just say this:

Home theater: $6M
Lazy boy couch: $1,200
People without access to electricity on Earth: 3B

WOW, I wonder how many small mouths this record executive could have fed or families he could have pulled out of poverty with his 6 million dollars? Well I guess we will never know.

Work, scam, slave and live a horrible life to earn money to buy stuff you don't really need to impress people you don't really like. I bet they don't have any friends.

How do you know how much money this guy gives to charity each year? Oh, right, you don't, so you're judging someone you know next to nothing about. Very tolerant. Very open minded.
Until you give all of your money to charity and never, ever buy anything for your own personal pleasure, you need to keep quiet about how other people spend their money.
Hypocrisy isn't just for conservatives, you know.

As he is a music and film producer, I wonder how much of that he was able to write off on his taxes- probably more than we'll make in 10 years!

btw, his father was an amazing harpsichordist, if you like that sort of thing (I do!)

This stuff at the very least, has tangible value and can be resold. It is commodity, substance, useful equipment. looking at the picture I have been trying to get a sense of scale. Looks like the room is about the size of a loft. Hey... if I was as financially successful as him I would probably spend my money in a similar way, being an audiophile and all. Someday, when I am no longer satisfied with the size of my...

Um, I can see a lot of movies for 6 mil.

Hell, I can probably rent a theatre as often as I want for that much.

I could hire people to come to my house and act out the movies....

Or, I could enjoy the rest of my entire life never having to worry about money again.

Some people.

#11 Bryan,

You are correct, judging the owner by the content of 1 picture is jumping to conclusions. And yes, I do agree that if you work hard to earn millions, you should be allowed to waste that money on whatever you want.

However. 6million for a home theater system is an exorbitant expenditure by anyones stretch of the imagination. Its exceedingly selfish and materialistic.
Exceedingly.

David Larsen:

maybe you could film yourself eating them, then carruthers can watch the film round at this guy's house. i think he might enjoy that.

Record Industry exec? Oh I can certainly judge such a vile dirtbag who's industry had screwed over thousands of minority performers over the years while claiming piracy is destroying their business. He should have kept that cash because once they wake up to find out that their business model is as obsolete as their middleman jobs they'll need every penny they can get.

Trouble is, there are precious few films actually worth sitting down and watching. The bulk of them are sufficiently old that this kind of equipment is overkill considering the quality of the original sound and image.
