The Common basilisk {wiki} is a lizard found in Central and South American rainforests near rivers and streams. This clip from National Geographic shows why this lizard has such an unusual nickname.
Ugh, what's with all the kiddie/dumbed-down commentary on National Geographic these days?
I know what you mean. I generally won't even click on their clips anymore. I'm assuming the new target audience of National Geographic is 5-7yo children. I used to get the magazine as well... what a waste. Pretty pictures (sometimes) but that's about it.
It's excellent that National Geographic has joined with YouTube to provide clips of their show. Definitely a good move to reach a greater audience, web 2.0-style!
The national geographic has been taken over by neocons.
it is cool to know though that their is *some* evidence of jesus walking on water, other than those iron age scrolls that actually say that he was walking *by* the water. At least, I have a new god to worship, all bow down to the mighty gods of the central and south american rain forest.
