The strange, spider-legged catamaran called Proteus just came to New York after visiting San Francisco earlier this year.
Here's something new about Proteus I didn't know before:
The spindly catamaran is so efficient that it can travel 5,000 miles — farther than across the Atlantic — on one load of diesel fuel.

Of course it can travel across the atlantic on one load of fuel. Is it supposed to refuel half way there?

It is very efficient compared to fuel consumption of a sea-going vessel.

Yeah, not so impressive when you learn that a "Tank" is 2,000 gallons of diesel. That's only 2.5 miles per gallon.
