Neatorama reader Trent Whatley sent these awesome photos of a BBQ grill made from a Chevy V8 engine block! This beast may not crank out 500 HP but it does produce 60,000 BTU!

My neighbor Terry Bacon had all the torches and welders so he played a big role in that department. The idea has been rolling around in my head for a couple years but I just hadn’t found the time or all the parts to pull it off. I did some internet searching to see if anyone had already built one and that is how I found your site. There are some cars that have been turned into BBQ’s and some BBQ’s that are ran by an engine but I have yet to see an engine that has been made into a BBQ. It’s been an interesting turn of events in the making. When I pitched the idea to some of my friends, most thought I was a little off but after they saw it in working order they were impressed. It is still a work in progress with lots of add-on’s to come. Now that it has proved to be a functional unit it’s time to dress her up a bit. I took it to a local car show this weekend and I think my grill had more lookers than a lot of the cars there. It was definitely the hit of the 4th of July BBQ.
Fantastic! Thanks Trent!Update 7/13/07: Visit Trent's website here: V8-Grill - Thanks Gear Head!

How to make yourself look like white trash:
Step #1: Use a Chevy v8 for a barbeque
That's some nice work, and I'm not even a motorhead. Hope they mod it to shoot flames out the top also.
A Ford would be much, much better.
and used for something that just might prove to be a good future for GM's
This is the coolest thing ever! I love it! Oh yeah, I want one!!

I love the "elite" that post here. Wow, must be awesome to have your poop smell like roses. I mean, come on people, its a freakin BBQ. Keeping up with the Jones' in your CCR'ed gated community must really suck huh?

The grill is awesome would like to get one...
It makes you wonder how much other cool stuff is out there that people won't share on the internet because of the "say nothing but negative" a-holes like some of the ones who posted here.
Trent and Terry, very impressive work and thanks for sharing!
The grill was the talk of the family reunion this weekend and puts your brother-in-law's horseshoe pit far off in the shadows, although some BBQ from this amazing grill and playing horseshoes at the same time would be even better!

Thanks for lookin'
Trent
Too bad you weren't selling these, I'd buy one right now.
Oh and I love all the redneck/white trash bashing. I'm neither, I'm considered a yuppie, and I still think this is a bad ass idea.
What do you mean, NOT a good word??
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WORK!

Anyway, I think it's a great way to recycle old auto parts.

Anyway, This is the coolest grill I have ever seen, and much respect goes out to Trent and Terry - Right on guys!
I don't know where the controversy is coming from about it being a Chevy engine, I mean it only makes sense to use one. Trent had a choice - He could either recycle something that didn't run worth a crap anyway, or he could tear apart a perfectly good Ford engine. :)
Ford's are the biggest redneck vehicles ever made. All you see or hear is a damn diesel piece of shit Ford coming down the highway or road or in your all's case, a "hollar".
Remember, atleast Ford circled the damn problem.
