Today's collaboration with Cellar Image of the Day brings us this photo:
Xia Aifeng, 36, stands on a chair as her daughter checks her hair at their home in Shangrao, in east China's Jiangxi province. Xia has not cut her hair for 16 years and it has grown to 2.42 metres long. She has to spend 90 minutes washing it once a week.

Hopefully she keeps it up if she is working in one of the many farms, mines, or sweatshopss in the Jiangxi province of Red China. There's no OSHA there and long hair does not mix well with rotating machinery.
I guess Samara had a daughter.
SEVEN DAYS!
eep.
i dont think its true, if u dont cut ur hair ur hair will reach a max limit in which it will not grow again until it is cut, which is like at the most down to the butt, but not below that, down to the floor or the knees is just bs, same thing with all other hair on your body, your arms, your pubic, your beard, or anywhere, it will eventually stop growing until u cut it, and if u cut it, it will grow back until it reaches that max limit again! i highly doubt that this is true.

My hair isn't very long, it's just between the length of my waist and the length of my shoulders; and I think yours has not grown for a long time or is staying the same because it has reached it's terminal length. Terminal length has to do with your hair's genetic growth cycle and nothing, time nor fancy expensive products will make your hair grow past it's terminal length. Rarely because of some people's genetics they don't have a terminal length. When I say they don't have a terminal length that doesn't mean that if you have hair to the floor that your hair can grow a mile. There is actually a woman in the Guinness Book of World Records that has had her hair verified to be past 18 feet long, (yes, it's her real hair attached to her real scalp without any extensions). There is even a man, (who is yet to be verified), that claims to have 20 feet of hair and this is a little less likely, not due to the length but the condition in which he keeps it. But think about it: a few percent of people in the world, (population being nearly 7,000,000,000) have no terminal length. They could grow it as long as they'd wanted, say they stopped getting it cut, maybe a few trims a year, and they kept it growing for a few decades in good health washing it when necessary, not using any harsh heat, bleaches, etc., and they had a good diet. Do you really think someone couldn't reach 20 ft., let alone 2.42 metres of hair?

( Trimming head hair is good for your hair because of the fact that if there is damage, such as split ends, on your hair then that will stop it from tearing more up the strand. It isn't 100% necessary for you to trim your hair in order for it to grow, but it would greatly help the health of your hair :) )
What an amazing pic
it must be really hard to get around with that amount of hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my hair up to my knees and i have a hard time stlying it...but...once a week? [come on now] USING EXTRA CONDITIONER always speeds up the detangling process for me...
come on, haven't any of you seen this detail?!?
anyway, if that was real i think it would be horrible...
so i cant even imagine what she goes through.
I looked at the image in the glass and I think it is NOT photoshop. Her hair in the reflection is right there behind her shoulder, as it should be. I am an artist and I can paste your head on Osama bin Laden's body if I want to and it will look real.
Everybody's hair has a different terminal length and some people's hair WILL grow this long. You should already know this if your own hair is very long.
The Ring? That spooky little girl's hair was ratty and unkempt, just as it should be for a horror movie. This woman's hair, in contrast, is magnificent.
It really gets me, all you hair haters. Do you want the whole world to get a buzz cut? I hate short hair, it's just stupid looking and it turns my stomach.
Just remember this; longhair covers up a lot of ugly.
Longhair rules!
