i thought the idea of a catwalk was to make the models look good in the clothes they wear. I am sorry, but she just doesn't look good. I'm sure people could design clothes that looked good on size 20 people, but there are serious no nos. For example upper legs, midriffs and top of arms.

like everyone else was saying though, why not normal sized people?

I think he was going for the shock effect here. I agree it would be better to show some average sized ladies rather than these extremes.

i think he was trying to prove that aesthetic value is not really all that plastic. granted, he was a bit manipulative in his execution; this woman would look a lot better if they'd given her a better fit. but it seems like he's trying to show the people who complained about the skinny models that even they "should" appreciate the fact of this woman on a catwalk intellectually, and not aesthetically. because the clothes don't fit her.

I'm a big girl, but even *I* know that poncing around on a catwalk in skimpy lingerie is not something a chick my size should be doing!

I'm with the "normal-sized models" crowd. Or at least dress her in something a little more dignified than trampwear!

Am I the only one that thinks that this was disrespectful and not, as they would like you to believe, to show that big is beautiful. It's sad that this girl agreed to do this. I seriously doubt that the real models backstage welcomed her warmly.

I love it! I love women with some size to them, and I think it is about time the fashion industry catches up to what real life is all about. To say that this is disrespectful and that the "real" models backstage didn't welcome a woman of this size is an ignorant comment. What makes you say she isn't a "REAL MODEL?" OK, perhaps she isn't a TYPICAL model...but she is on the runway, and you are complaining about it on a blog...who's got the last laugh there? I am all for REAL women being models...I would love to see more of this.
