Rich Bellacera's Fantastic Four Micro-Heroes.

Micro-heroes are fantastic (pun intended) fan-made avatars, usually of action heroes and comic book characters. These arts are drawn in a very specific style and are often intricately animated.

The Micro-heroes remind me a bit of those extremely annoying giant smileys that bounce up and down, wiggle around and oscillate on most every web page I visit. They do everything possible to distract my attention from the content of the page I came to see. Whenever possible, I scroll the page to get them out of sight as quickly as I can. I don't meanto complain about the small smileys that are the same size as a print character and express simple emotions. Those smileys are useful. The ones I hate are the giant ones that stamp their legs on the floor, and stick out and wiggle horrendous-looking tongues, etc. Anybody that would subscribe to these demon smileys or (yecch!) actually use them in a communication to another person must be, at least subconsciously, asking for social isolation!

I agree with Ivan. Even the moving avatars on live-journal annoy me... or any flashing advertisement. Not to mention it slows everything down when on dial up. BAH!
