Neat Trivia of the Week
Think there's no February 30? Think again!
In 1700, the Swedish Empire planned to convert from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, but an error caused the dates to be out of sync*. In 1712, an extra day was added to the leap year, and so February 30, 1712 became a real date in history.
*The Swedish conversion to the modern Gregorian Calendar was completed more than forty years later, when the last 11 days of February 1753 were omitted. Not everyone was pleased, however. Some believed that the calendar reform stole 11 days of their lives.
