'Tis the season for giving, and while retail stores take their employee's time by making them work extra hours most employers make it worth their while by giving them a holiday bonus to thank them for all their hard work.
This year IKEA gave their 14,000 employees something high tech for the holidays- two Hamilton Buhl virtual reality headsets, one for them and one to give as a gift.
But IKEA had a very good reason for giving their employees VR headsets- because they recently launched IKEA Place, an AR app that allows customers to see how furniture will look in their home before they make a final purchase.
These headsets aren't all that expensive, so to make sure their employees were happy with their holiday bonus they also contributed millions to their employees' retirement funds:
The brand also announced in a press release that it will be offering “thank yous” to 123,000 employees worldwide through a total contribution of US$113 million to their retirement funds—that’s US$1,403 a person.
Part-timers will also receive bonuses as means of IKEA’s gratitude.
