Rural villages in Costa Rica don’t have a very big market for billboard advertising, and those who want to advertise their home businesses generally can’t afford to rent space on the few existing billboards.
So what is the average Costa Rican to do when they want to go into business in the neighborhood?
Some have taken to painting their satellite dishes to advertise their services, with a little help from the satellite TV company Claro.
These personal billboards add some artistic color to the neighborhood and help rural housewives set up a small business of their own without having to spend a dime on advertising.
