Yes, a scale! That's it! Now I know exactly what to get my wife for Christmas. She hasn't told me that she wants a scale. In fact, she hasn't been clear what she wants. I well recall using one when my grandma's house got electricity. My young uncles were proud of the little contraption they came up with that would toast bread. It would be an antique now, but they probably tore it up in no time.

The first year I had my newspaper delivery route, I bought my Mom a pop-up toaster for Christmas out of my tip money. Of course I bought it for myself too, as I got tired of having to flip toast when making it for breakfast. Remember those?
