Yudy Sauw is a building supply shop owner from Indonesia. These incredible macro shots he takes of the eyes of common Indonesian bugs are a hobby of his. Sauw's ultimate goal is to have the collection published in a book. He shoots with a Nikon D700 camera fitted with a Nikon 105mm AF f/2.8D lens. For extreme close-ups, Sauw uses Raynox super macro conversion lenses. Check out this talented hobbyist's portfolio at his 500px site. Via Wired.

Nikola Rahme is my favorite insect macro-photographer. Most of his subjects are alive when he photographs them.

The referring Wired article said that this guy's bugs are dead. I omitted that detail.

Someone pointed out that the bugs are often chilled in a fridge so they don't move around, and sprayed with water so it looks like dew. Still, excellent pictures.
