Conservation Lower Zambezi, a wildlife conservation organization in Zambia, found Douglas the hippopotamus when he was just 2 weeks old. His mother had abandoned him, so they took him in. He now lives at Chipembele Wildlife Rescue and, apparently thinking that he’s in an old Disney movie, has befriended two terriers named Molly and Coco.
Even at such a young age, Douglas was a big fellow and needed 6 men to carry him out of a plane when he arrived at Chipembele. When he’s fully grown, he could be 15 feet long and weigh 8,000 pounds. I wonder if he’ll still be able to play with Molly and Coco then.
