Because the image is flipped (with the exception of the players), the vanishing points of the court boundaries are wrong; ending behind the viewer instead of the horizon. That makes it look just wrong.

No, it's Photoshopped, but so many of those Escher-style illusions create ambiguity between foreground and background, which is especially easy to do when things don't appear smaller when they are more distant.

Are you sure this isn't just photoshopped? The shadows don't look like they match. Or maybe I am just not getting it.

Part of what makes all those kinds of illusions work is that they are drawn or photographed in such a way as to not have vanishing points.
