Waves in the Desert - Neatorama

The Wave is the popular name of a series of rock formations in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, a nature preserve on the Arizona-Utah border. If there is any hope of surfing on dry land, this is the place to try it.

You can surf on sand dunes, like in Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado.

Point of order- the park is on the Colorado Plateau, which straddles the Arizona/Utah border, not in the state of Colorado.

Fascinating. The cuttlefish is mimicking a nudibranch, which is a sea slug. The movements, even down to the swishing the tentacles like the nudibranch's gills, is beautifully accurate.

Sea slugs are brightly colored (often with brilliant contrasts of blue and yellow) because they too are poisonous.
