Mathematical Street Art

Of Aakash Nihalani's recent work, this piece is my favorite. He's brilliant at highlighting pre-existing forms with simple geometical shapes to create additional meaning. This exercise in basic arithmetic is one that you'd probably walk by every day without noticing if not for the plus and equal signs.

I had some extra origami paper on hand so I tried it with that. Fantastic! I always wanted to know how to make these bows.

I didn't have any of those brass reinforcement-thingys so I used a thumb tack until it was done, then stapled it. Works great, plus the point is sharp enough to go thru the paper without extra tearing.

Awesome find! Also, great idea about the thumb tack/stapling! I want to try and make some of these when I get home, but I know I don't have any of those brass things!

You weren't kidding about these being addictive...I made tons of them while watching TV last night, I literally had to force myself to stop making them and go to sleep : )
