Isn't sake colorless? I'm really asking.

I put milk in the mug before adding coffee. A similar distortion on the bottom would be handy for estimating how much milk to add.

Not all sake is colorless. There are multiple types of sake, and some are white. These are considered a lower quality sake, but are popular in the US. A well known brand of "white" sake in the US, is Pearl.
