Snow Drawings

They're like Nazca lines, but far more ephemeral. Sonja Hinrichsen, with the help of five volunteers, cut spiral designs into the snow at Rabbit Ears Pass, Colorado. Who could imagine that snowshoes could be the implements of an artist?

Wonderful story. Stuff like this happens a lot more often than you'd think. I know of a farmer who was taken to the cemetery on his hay wagon pulled by his John Deer tractor. I also know of a couple stories where the widowed husbands were allowed to drive the hearse to the cemetery because they had always driven their wives to all their appointments and wanted to drive her to her last.

A lot of funeral home directors are more than happy to personalize the service like this. It's a wonderful thing to do.

and self righteous athiests make my brain twitchy.

funerals are, after all, for the survivors not the person who has passed.

Knowing that that's something that he wanted should be enough to make one glad it was done, regardless or not if they somehow know.

My father worked for the sanitation department for many years. He used to joke about how he wanted a "21-horn" salute when he died. At his funeral, a few of his former co-workers (and 3 trucks) made it happen and although quite a few people had no idea what was happening, those who knew him best were very much touched and amused by the gesture.
