Doctor Who Music from an Orchestra

(Video Link)

In 2010, the BBC Proms included a concert devoted to the music of Doctor Who. It included a grand stage show, with appearances by Cybermen, Daleks and more. Surprisingly, there were no fatalities among the humans in attendance. You can find all six parts of the concert embedded at the link.

John, the Millenium centre has featured in the show, both as itself and as other locations.

For example, when the Doctor parks the TARDIS on a space/time rift in the episode Boom Town it is right outside the Millenium centre. In the epsiode New Earth some of the hospital scenes were shot in the Millenium Centre, so people arriving for the concert were actually walking through the doors that the Doctor and Rose had used to enter the hospital.

So all in all probably just about the most appropriate concert venue they could have chosen.

Yes they do the proms every year, but Doctor Who has only been their twice. 2008 and 2010.

The linked videos only show 60 minutes, but there is a 90 minute version too. The actual performance was even longer. There was also a similar concert entitled Doctor Who: A Celebration in 2006 at Cardiff Millenium Centre.

Given that these concerts seem to happen every other year we can only hope there will be another this year. However I think it more likely that they will hold off another year to coincide with the 50th anniversary.
