My friends had a dog that was old and losing his vision. When they threw the ball, they had to keep an eye on him, because if he went passed the ball without seeing it, he'd keep going on forever!

Terriers notoriously will not let go of the ball after they fetch it. We had a terrier and he was tireless about fetching and then hanging on to the ball. I think it's smart that he learned to throw his own ball!

I'm guessing that somebody had already been throwing the ball dozens of times. I doubt that he's terribly neglected.
