However, it seems a number of commenters don't understand (or at l east haven't considered) supply and demand.

Animals have died unnecessarily for this because there was an additional demand of 40lb of bacon on the bacon economy. 40lb of pig has been wasted, and a new 40lb of pig must be slaughtered to replace it for those people who would otherwise have eaten this bacon.

So on one hand, you have people whining that animals died for this, and on the other, that it's a waste of food. As someone mentioned already, the animals were already going to die no matter where the meat went, and if someone buys the food, they can do whatever they want with it. It's no one else's business.

That said, the bacon thing is as played out as ninjas and pirates. I love bacon as much as anyone else, but the internet has really reached new levels of stupid with it.

If it wasn't for the meat eaters, none of these pigs would ever had been born.
