Natalie Dee of the webcomic Married to the Sea organized and categorized elemental smells into a periodic table. Sure, you can probably think of other smells, but they're really just compounds of these, right?

Purer gasoline, without detergents, without ethanol, etc. actually smells pretty good. My theory is that they started putting chemicals in it to make it unpleasant. When I was a kid gasoline smelled pleasant but in some smaller countries (or states) without emission standards it still does.

A vomity corpse smells worse than a dirty diaper? I'm not so sure. Then again, I've smelled rotten corpses in August, but none were vomity, so I cannot be sure.
