Hexapod Dance Competition

[YouTube - Link]

Robots + Dancing = Awesome.

But is it useful to society in anyway? Maybe the way the Hexapod (six legged) robot moves flexibly and its precision movements could be applied to many fields. Until then we'll have to be just content with the robots dancing at the third Austrian Hexapod Championship.

I actually just did a Dancing Robots post on my blog a few weeks back, which includes the Hexapod. Also includes 8 others that might be interesting to you guys http://tr.im/1ycl

Let me know what you think!

Yah it reminded me of the toy story doll head as well. I'm about to get on all fours and do the hexapod!
LEFT LEG UP SHAKE

RIGHT HAND UP SHAKE

PUSH UPS!

And of course with a bowler hat on my back!

This video was bizarrely entrancing. It might have been the music, but I was reminded of the large prey hunting spiders who do a dance in front of their prey to mesmorize it.

If you ever see one of these in real life, and you find yourself staring blankly at it, your muscles going soft, it's probably already too late.

I remember hearing about this other specie that has a crazy reproduction cycle too. Something to do with rabbits, bugs, grass, rabbit's feces, etc. I can't remember the name of the specie for the life of me :-(.

@ hobbes3:
Many parasites have crazy reproductive cycles like this. I recently read "Parasite Rex" by Carl Zimmer where he describes many strange parasitic species and their big and often underestimated influence on many ecosystems - quite an interesting book!

I've often thought that if parasites were ordering the tree of life, they would know that OBVIOUSLY the species with the most stages was the most superior.
