Sparks Fly Out of the Eyes of Angry Jesus Statue.

Brian Burgess' bronze steel and bronze statue of an angry Jesus brandishing a whip ready to drive out moneylenders from the temple, on display at the Liverpool Academy of Art, became quite famous when some visitors claimed to see sparks in Jesus' eyes:

Sculptor Burgess said: 'It began when one woman who saw the statue fell to her knees and began praying.

'She was transfixed for more than thirty minutes and when she came out of the trance she said she had witnessed sparks coming from the eyes of the Christ figure.

'Now the word has spread and we have hoards of people coming along to pray and venerate the statue and many of them have said they have witnessed these sparks too.'

He added: 'I worked on the piece for about a year but I never saw any sparks apart from those coming from the welding torch.'

she prolly had practically fainted and due to the light headedness and lack of oxygen or whatever, saw 'spots' in her vision, and wanted to be a dumb hoe and say it was sparks.

i know ive stood up to fast, and things start to go black, then i see 'stars' or 'spots' in my vision...

Should be "hordes of people", not "hoards". Sorry, I can be a jerk like that.

People sometimes do see what they want to see, but this sparks thing is a little crazy. I'll wait for the video documentation. The statue does look pretty scary.
