The basic idea of this webpage is quite simple: Take a vintage photo, take an identical photo of the site (with the same angle, etc.) as if the camera never moved and overlay the two. Must have taken a lot of time to get 'em lined up right.

Update 11/6/06: That's North Carolina State University campus - Thanks megmeg and CJ!
The vehicle is hiding part of the the whole sidewalk so we dont know for sure if it's the exact angle.
Transparency gives the illusion that it's the same day light but the sun never shine in the same exact angle especially after 50 years.
Also you can notice that the windows on the left building dont match angle.
It's close tho... but nothing really special.
Phenomenal job by the assembler. I wish he would give credit to NCSU's campus on the site.
How come we don't get snow like that these days? :)

That's actually my university! North Carolina State to be exact. It's so crazy to see how the campus used to look! I'm flabbergasted that it's changed so much! Especially Hillsborough Street.
ps- The thing that the guy says "no one knows what it is" ... it's a giant modernistic egg sculpture made by one of the old Design profs
